Poverty and politics.

"Poverty is a political choice" an UN Rapporteur, Philip Alston, stated on 22 June, 2018. The Special Rapporteur's report says of the SDGs (sustainable development goal) that "The UN and it's member states are sleepwalking towards failure... Five years after their adoption, it is time to acknowledge that the SDGs are simply not going to be met."
When elections approach, politicians conduct campaigns and also promise the public that they will be provided home surveillance, better environment cleaning measures, effective transportation, and whatnot. They basically bribe people. Most politicians make promises only for namesake and to get votes. Now, taking this into consideration, the minimum cost will range around crores. So, overall the amount/expenditure during elections (only) is beyond imagination. Henceforth, an obvious question: Why do the nation still faces destitution?
Won't it be more helpful and progressive for the nation if instead they donate money to improvise orphanages, NGOs, educational sectors?
The poor are marginalized and no step towards their state of affairs is taken. Racial, gender and ethnic discrimination are directly related how politics affects poverty in some countries.
As we all know, there are unemployment issues too. So instead of entirely investing into building apartments and other things, money can be partly invested into areas with employment opportunities. We watch people sleeping on streets, taking shelter under bridge and who knows where else. This needs to be changed. And we can change it. Definitely, it'll take time but it isn't impossible. Rather spending all of our recreational money, we can save some aside for donation. It doesn't matter how much the amount, a little amount is also a difference.
